A Bit About Me
My name is Susan Drawbaugh. I'm often asked if I made that last name up to go with my profession, and the answer is no - however, it is pretty coincidental since drawing has always been close to my heart. My images first started adorning commercial products at the age of six, when I BOLDY etched a beautiful stick figure on the headboard of my parents' bed. Despite the unfavorable consequence of that creative venture, I've continued creating images for merchandise throughout the years - varying from infant bedding, to juvenile picture books - to humorous coffee mug lines for grown-ups. Although my skills aren't limited to whimsical, that's where my passion lies. One of the highlights of my art training came when I studied animation and drawing techniques under the private teachings of veteran Warner Bros. animator, Ben Washam - a key player in such classics as the Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, and Tom & Jerry cartoons. My medium of choice is a blend of pen & ink, markers, and colored pencils, along with the digital tools of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. Working from my home studio in the coastal town of San Pedro, California, I'm never far from creative inspiration. With the steady stream of lovable characters in my life, the material for whimsical drawings is only a heartbeat away!
